Winter Formalwear

If you guys are anything like me, you will overdo Christmas and its festivities right until you actually have to give up on January 6th. When I say overdo Christmas, I don’t mean wearing an ugly jumper and still precariously singing christmas carols, I mean using it as an excuse for festive gatherings to then grant me the excuse within that excuse to dress in my favourite style; formal.

The diversity of formal wear can be a blessing and a curse. With numerous shirt and tie combinations to many different materials, mens suit shopping can be an absolute nightmare. To make things easier for myself, I pinpointed three essentials to absolutely nailing the perfect festive season look. Essential one is a dark grey tweed blazer that I bought from Burton. English winters can be bone chillingly cold, so tweed blazers are my go to selection for most winter occasions because as well as being climate savvy, they really epitomize a classic gentleman look. My second essential is a statement tie and I found the perfect one from River Island’s winter collection of floral ties. Floral out of spring?! Who knew?! Luckily my masculinity isn’t fragile enough for me to be afraid of wearing floral and after wearing it with the outfit below, its instantly become one of my favourite accessories.

Thirdly, the last essential is a strong pair of shoes. I’ve gained a liking for Oxfords recently and the online formalwear store Steel and Jelly I’ve recently discovered were able to hook me up with a pair in the two-tone brown colour I wanted. Future formalwear purchases will be made there for sure! All together, I found these three essentials brought a really well rounded and strong formal look, which I hope you agree with from the photoset below. So when you’re catching up with relatives over drinks about your new job in the city, you’ll probably sound just that extra bit more believable than if you had a talking Olaf on a christmas jumper. After all...style conveys conviction.

Hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas and are having a good start to the new year.

Sam.
